We just returned from vacation, ahem adventure, to Natural Bridge State Park and Red River Gorge. In December of last year, Mel knew that she would be itching for an adventure in the spring because Cleveland winters can be rough.

Time away is necessary! In the midst of a pandemic, urges to get away from the daily grind are even stronger because we aren’t doing the things that we once did before the pandemic.

Adventure runs in our blood - we like to explore new places and experience different parks. The typical adventure is to a National Park to hike, ride mountain bikes, standup paddleboard, and anything that has to do with being outdoors.

What did this time away teach us?

  • Solidified our love for the outdoors

  • Not everywhere has an internet connection

  • Sleeping in a tent is hard as you get older, but nothing beats the breeze & nighttime sounds

  • Getting away from home responsibilities is a good thing

  • Spring is still our favorite season

  • Being minimal helps you appreciate what you do have at home

This is the first of many adventures this year! We have plans to camp at parks in Ohio to capture some of HFP Racing races, bikepack the GAP (+ add to the trip to bike from Pittsburgh, PA to Cleveland, OH), race gravel in Ohio (+ maybe outside of Ohio), race a 50k in Utah, and this is just the tip of the adventures for 2021.

What racing adventures or general adventures are you looking forward to in 2021?
