2022 Multisport racing season is here!
It’s exciting that the multisport racing season is in full swing!
One of my clients (HFP Racing) has already had a few races this year.
A big race to note of theirs is American Triple-T. It is a unique racing weekend: 4 triathlon races over three days in May at Salt Fork State Park! Friday evening race, Saturday morning & afternoon race, and Sunday race. (Oh and the Saturday evening race is bike-swim-run!) Participants race either the ST Distance (70+ miles ) or the XT Distance (140+ miles).
I was part of the Operations Team for a lot of the race the weekend. Thursday I helped set up Transition. Friday I helped with various tasks and athlete check-in, then captured some of the action on social media. Saturday I helped with packet pick-up (for other races happening the same weekend), was a ‘float’ with a golf cart, and captured the day’s races on social media. Sunday I was a ‘float,' captured the races on social media, and helped to tear down the race course.
The other thing is that there were individual multisport races (Salt Fork Triathlons) and trail races (Stone House Trail Runs) that also happened that weekend!
Honestly, as I look back at this weekend - I cannot remember all the various tasks that I did - but it was really fun + exhausting!
What I do remember is that on Sunday, I was up at 4 am worked throughout the day until about 8 pm then drove home (which was about 2 hours away). I didn’t get home until after 11 pm that night. To say I was exhausted from the weekend is an understatement - I actually felt like I raced.
One of the biggest takeaways from the weekend was connecting with the race staff! Getting to know the Operations Team & meeting Samuel (the trail race RD).
The rest of the race weekends will be much different than ATT, but it gives me an opportunity to actually be at races to capture the racers, learn more about what it is like to put on multisport races, and connect with the team.
I’m looking forward to a few other HFP Racing races that I will be at in person.
Plus, it will be the second year for Tri CLE Rock Roll Run! So many things are starting to pick up for this race as we are little less than 2 months away from race day on August 20!
